C-Motech, the networking specialist released the world’s first dual mode WiMax/EVDO USB dongle through CTIA wireless in San Francisco. The self-styled CMU-300 completely supports the IEEE 802.16e-2005 WiMax standard included EVDO Rev A or HSDPA wireless networks.

According to CTIA company representatives, the Korean-based hardware company has marked a most important distribution contract with a top American mobile phone carrier which will announce the dual-mode USB networking adapter in the American market in this November. The modified version slightly of the WiMax Dual-Mode adapter is by now available in Korean market.

The overall question raises U.S.A product announcement; how far has the WiMax network been extensive? WiMax, a technology standards-based allowing the delivery of last mile wireless broadband access as a substitute to DSL & cable; has been much-ballyhooed about over the years, but has not taken off yet in developed Nations.

Internationally the technology has being tested, especially in Asia & Latin America. At present, Pakistan has the major fully functional WiMax network, provided by Motorola and Wateen Telecom.

A number of American cellular companies are assessing WiMax since 2003 as a means for rising bandwidth for a range of data-intensive applications. In 2006, American carriers declared policy of investing US$5 billion in WiMax technology build outs over the next some years.
