Today latest news it that the new PS3 Firmware 2.40 should be available on 2nd July and should include the XMB access in-game and Prize support.

The Cross Media Bar (XMB) provide facility to you check the status of your friends, change setting, read and send messages, launch a game installed on the hard disk drive without going through the start menu,  go straight to picture viewing that involves leaving the game, or play MP3 while continuing the party.

Trophy support, like the Xbox360, lets you to earn a trophy for in game victory, and create player profiles visible. It’s available in 4 groups: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum.
